How to Prepare for Your First Appointment

Detox

To get the most out of your session, you will want to start washing your hair at least once per week in the weeks leading up to your appointment (if you’re not already). This will help you to get the most out of your appointment.

Hydrate

A good shampoo lays the foundation for your curl care routine and any good hairstyle! It is the most important part of caring for your hair. If you are not yet using a shampoo regularly, you can start with this one.

Detangle

Now your hair is clean, you want to ensure you detangle thoroughly to remove shed hair, with a rich and expansive conditioner like this one. Use it with plenty of water to smooth it through with your fingers. Then use a brush.

Style

Don’t over think it! Moisturise and style how you are most comfortable until your appointment. Ideally this will be your natural hair with no added hair and without using any oils or butters.

Please note: If you arrive with your curls defined as you normally would, I can give more feedback. You do not have to avoid using products with oil or butter in them. Just please do not put pure coconut oil, amla oil, chebe butter or shea buttter directly on your hair, for example. You also do not have to wash your hair in preparation for every appointment. You also do not have to arrive product-free. Follow these guidelines for your first appointment and then stick to your personalised routine thereafter.
